Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd., Ajara was established on 2nd June 1963 by people Amrutrao Santojirao Desai(Kaka), Baliram Dattatray Desai, Dattajirao Govind Savant(Annaji), Vishwanath Dundappa Mahalank, Shankarrao Ramchandra Turambekar, Mallapa Bassapa Shengave, Gopalrao Abaji Injal, Keshav Ramchandra Samant, Vasantrao Abaji Desai, Keshav Bhikaji Topale, Balaku Rama Patil(Aba), Gundopant Bala Shimpi, Basvani Somling Dang, Gundu Lingu Patil, Pundalik Babali Nalawade are committed to social cause in Ajara. The Bank has always kept the goal of helping economically weaker section of the society and has carved a place as bank of masses and not only for classes and on the post of chairman Vishwanath Dundappa Mahalank has been selected.
On 5th April 1963 bank registered at Government Office and bank get Registration Number as Regi.No.K.P.R/B.N.K./302. The persons mentioned above are member of Founding Board take lots of efforts for foundation of bank and to help them Deputy Prime Minister of India Yashwantrao Chavan complete the the goal. This is the main reason Janata Bank been registered.In the first year bank ahwal counting as 450 Councilor Members, 21000 Investment, 65000 Deposit, Loans of 10000.
After 14 years on 21st April 1977 the first branch of Janata Bank started at Mahagaon in Gadhinglaj Taluka, Kolhapur district. The councilor of bank are requested for bank’s own building and headquarters. Auspicious occasion of Bhoomi pujan inauguration done by Chairman Gopalrao Injal. And occasion of Paya Khudai is done by respected Vishwanath Mahalank. And now the building of bank is situated at Ajara marketplace.
In this year itself on 27/9/1979 at Kovaad located in Chandgad taluka inauguration done by Ranjeet Desai. On 21/01/1982 third branch of Ajara Bank been started at Saravade at Radhanagari Taluka and fourth branch is started on 29/04/1982 at Valva.
On 2nd June 1989 bank stepped in Silver jubilee year. In this Silver jubilee year we organize Nool – new branch opening ceremony, Scholarships for poor and backward class students, Cooperative camp, Meal for students that showing the Social commitment with common people. At the end of year occasion of Silver jubilee send off ceremony is successfully done. And on occasion of this ceremony we gifted to bank members.
At Rajaram Road, Kolhapur own building of Ajara Bank is started. Immediately we started new branches at Hupari on 17/12/1995 and 22/07/1996. And aslo on 4/09/1997 at Gadhinglaj and 17/10/1997 at Shinoli, Tal. Chandgad , 20/02/1998 at Khari Corner, Kolhapur started new branches. After that new branches are start up on 3/09/2002 at Sangali and on 19/10/2002 at Sawantwadi.
Finally now Headquaters located at Ajara and above mentioned 14 branches. Today the bank has a wide network of 14 branches in three districts. Out of those 14 branches 9 has own buildings. And we are trying to make those remaining three branches with ownership building.
Bank celebrates Golden Jubilee send of occasion on 29/09/2013. For this program respected Hasan Mushrif, Labour Minister, Maharashtra State, MLA of Ajara – Bhudargad Mr. K. P. Patil, MLA of Ajara – Chandgad Mrs. Sandhyadevi Kupekar special guests of honor make their presence. After the program councilor get special gifts and sweets and program ended.
